Just the two of us!

Ben wisked me off to San Diego for a short vacation to celebrate my birthday and the completion of weaning Asher. Although he had the flu for 24 hours, God was gracious to us and helped us to redeem the time. My favorite spot was on the beach facing the Pacific Ocean in front of the famous Hotel del Coronado.

We enjoyed a ferry boat ride across the bay between San Diego and Coronado.

The skyline of San Diego. We enjoyed our time in the Gaslamp Quarter, eating seafood, Mexican, and pizza. We drove along Point Loma and visited the lighthouse. We ate dinner with some great friends of ours in Newport Beach and got to hold their 9 month old. We got lots of walking in and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Solamar...I felt like royalty!

This was Ben's favorite part...the convertible! We escaped the reality that we drive minivan and let the wind blow our hair around for a few days. (or at least mine!)

I definitely married adventure almost 8 years ago. Ben brings so much spontaneity and life to it. I find myself so consumed by the daily tasks of meeting the needs of our three kids, completing my to-do list, and getting in a rut of routine, that this trip was such a refresher for me. It made us thankful for uninterrupted conversations and sleep, finishing a HOT meal, and sleeping in! Although we did miss toddler talk, drool, and hearing our names dozens of times. Obviously, we came back refreshed and ready for some sweet hugs from our little warriors!

We couldn't have done this without MiMi! She flew up at her own expense, lost sleep, got the flu too, and took great care of our little boys. They are having MiMi withdrawal as you read this! She is the best and I'd put her up against any MiMi any day! We love you, Mimi. And thanks Pops for letting her come!
