He's growing up!

It's just about that time...Elijah begins kindergarten 2 months from today. As parents of preschoolers, you are always looking ahead to those school days, when your child will gain a little more independence and begin the journey of school that will last at least 13 years if not more.
Up until this summer, I thought school days would never come. As my borrowed motto goes, "The days are long, but the years are short." I am finding that to take on a new deeper meaning as I find myself staring at our oldest, thinking back on his 5 years at home, and wondering how he will make his mark at school and how school will make a mark on him. I know it sounds like I am sending him off to college 12 hours away. But the reality is that once we send him on August 20th, the journey begins. As parents, we take on a more intentional role to listen to him about his days and continue to train him to be the salt and light to his friends and teachers. How does this happen? We are about to learn by experience. Let the journey begin...
